Which Juvéderm is Right for Me?

Youthful skin is plump and supple. These characteristics are supported by hydration. Youthful skin is also firm, a characteristic that comes from the foundation of collagen in the dermis. As we age, the chemicals that provide the skin with hydration and foundational structure degrade. Furthermore, the cells that make these chemicals go dormant. If you haven’t guessed which chemicals we’re talking about yet we’ll tell you: collagen and hyaluronic acid.
We often think of collagen and elastin as the vital chemicals for younger-looking skin. However, hyaluronic acid is also critically important. It is this chemical that acts as a magnet for moisture in the cells. Without it, the skin can deflate, droop, and lose contour.
Plastic surgery may tighten extremely loose and saggy skin but it does very little to address the loss of volume that happens as collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid decline. To improve contours and plumpness, we turn to dermal fillers made with hyaluronic acid. The most well-known family of fillers, Juvéderm, includes several product choices. JUVÉDERM ULTRA PLUS XC
One of the first Juvéderm fillers to be developed, Ultra Plus XC is used to minimize the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles and creases that result from volume loss in the dermis and epidermis. This filler is frequently selected for the correction of deep nasolabial folds between the nose and mouth. It is also suitable for marionette lines that develop at the edges of the mouth and travel down to the sides of the chin. Finally, it may be used to add volume to the body of naturally thin or deflated lips.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC
Juvéderm Voluma XC has been developed specifically for the midface. It is the first filler of its kind to reinstate adequate structure in the deeper layers of the skin. Remodeling the deeper layer, it is possible to add curves along the upper part of the cheekbone as needed to correct sagging and flattening. The smoothness that is created at the upper cheek can decrease the appearance of undereye puffiness. In some cases, contouring the midface with Voluma XC can also reduce the appearance of jowls at the lower sides of the face.
JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA XC
Developed specifically for lip enhancement, Volbella XC is the thinnest and most malleable product in the Juvéderm family. The softness of Volbella makes it appropriate for more subtle augmentation as well as the correction of thin lines at the border of the lips and surrounding areas. Think of Volbella as adding definition, whereas Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is more about adding volume.
JUVÉDERM VOLLURE XC
Juvéderm Vollure XC, like Volbella and Voluma, is made with advanced Vycross technology. This makes Vollure highly moldable and natural-looking wherever it is used. This product is suitable for moderate to severe facial folds in areas of the face that move with various expressions.
